Viability/Vitality Test
The viability test is recommended in people where sperm motility is less than 25%. Many sperm that do not move are alive but due to some biochemical or structural problems they cannot move. This test is very important in the elimination of dead sperm that cannot fertilize the egg, and immobile but living sperm that have fertilizing potential. The Viability test enables a more detailed diagnosis and selection of further processes for the patient by our professional staff.
DNA fragmentation
In addition to the basic analysis of sperm quality, which includes analysis of the total number, concentration, motility, vitality and morphology of sperm, the inclusion of the DNA fragmentation test provides additional data on the integrity of sperms DNA.
Sperm DNA damage can occur inside the testicles (irregularities during maturation), or after leaving the testicles (infection, varicocele, oxidative stress)
Sperm DNA quality is also affected by bad life habits (smoking, improper diet, tight clothing), working conditions (exposure to toxins, high temperatures), taking medication for chronic diseases, and chemo and radiotherapy.
Who is it recommended for?
As an additional test, a DNA fragmentation test is recommended for couples:
- who had miscarriages
- with unexplained cause of infertility
- with poor morphological quality of the embryo in previous IVF procedures
- with more than three failed IVF procedures
- in which the age of the partner is more than 40 years
- in which the partner states that he is exposed to some of the factors that affect the quality of sperm DNA.
HABA test
Sperm-hyaluronan Binding Assay is designed to allow assessment of sperm quality, degree of maturity and fertilization potential.
Whether sperm binds properly to hyaluronic acid or not can serve as an important indicator of the fertilization potential of a sample. High levels of hyaluronan binding indicate that sperm do not contain abnormal cytoplasmic inclusion.
Relationship between HBA test and pregnancy
A detailed study found that for every 1% increase in HBA score, it increases the chance of pregnancy by 4%.
